Product Information Management

Getting an online presence is easy, but getting customer orders can be hard. BOLD Product Management by Dacsa includes a number of features to help you get those customer orders:

• Product Specifications and Definitions

• Category Management

• Product Linking

• Variants

Product Specifications

Helping the customer to find the right product is the first step to a sales order. This requires good search and browsing capabilities and making it possible to sort, filter and compare products on their capabilities and features. The Product Specifications in BOLD by Dacsa gives you a state of the art tool for filling your shopping cart with accurate and well defined data to be used for this. Each product group has a template specifying all properties defining the products of that group. Each product will specify its values for the given properties.

Product Specifications - Structure

BOLD is aware of the type and unit of each property value, making them usable for filtering and comparisons – even across groups. For each property, BOLD knows what values are good or better and can sort product lists from best to worst. The system can even suggest better products not in the customers search list, based on this information.

Category Management

Along with searching and filtering, browsing product categories is the most common way for a customer to find a product he is looking for. This requires a good, intuitive, category tree. The Category Management of BOLD allows you to define such a category tree specific for the purpose of finding and selling the product. Typically this may look different from categories used for defining the products or for report purposes. BOLD, therefore, allows multiple category trees, each with a different purpose. Products are automatically assigned to categories based on their product type, which defines the product, so no manual effort is needed for categorization, even if several category trees are used. Naturally, the products can be assigned to several different categories in each category tree.

Product Linking

Once the customer finds the product he wants to buy, it is essential to try to increase the order value. Increasing the average order value is a very efficient way to increase your profits without having to attract new customers. This is done by presenting suggestions related to the chosen product that the customer might be interested in. In BOLD this is called Product Linking. Product Linking is used ta manage all types of cross-sales and up-sales, which is vital to be profitable.  Any product can be linked to any number of other products.

The link can be classified as an Accessory, Replacement or Alternative. Based on the product the customer has chosen, the system can present other similar products, Alternatives. Or products that fit well with the chosen one, Accessories. The Replacement link is used to handle outdated links or bookmarks on the Internet that point to a product that is no longer available. Rather than telling the customer it is discontinued, the system can present a replacing product with similar features.

Variants

BOLD includes support for variants, which will help your customer find the right product and at the same time reduce administration of products. Up to two dimensions – such as size and color – can be defined for each variant. Each dimension has a range of valid values – such as large, medium, small and red, green blue – and the variants are created as combinations of these values.
